Hunter & Hare is a Vancouver-based shop that believes in creating space for affordable and sustainable fashion. Co-owners Micki and Jo spent years working in the retail industry together, and after experiencing how much waste exists, they set out to change the landscape. Hunter & Hare operates on a circular consignment model, which aims to increase the lifespan of garments and reduce the amount of textile waste hitting landfills each year. Bonus points, because there’s a lot of magic in stumbling across the perfect piece that just feels at home on your body.
Over the two years we worked with Hunter & Hare, we provided expertise in creative direction, copywriting, photography, styling, and social media. Working alongside the brand guidelines that were already in place, we developed monthly content that felt fashion-forward yet friendly and familiar.
A study done by Metro Vancouver in 2016 estimates that textiles make up about 5% of the region's municipal solid waste, and clothing accounts for half of that number—that's about 44 t-shirts per person hitting landfills each year. Hunter & Hare helps reduce textile waste by prolonging the life of garments through a circular consignment model.
While working together, the @hunterandhare account surpassed double its following from 6,300 to over 14,000. We helped develop a workflow to bring consignment clothing to the online shop, and Instagram consistently referred 95% of monthly online traffic. Already three shops down and more to come, Hunter & Hare is demonstrating that your unique personal style doesn’t have to come at the cost of the environment.
